FROM ORPHAN TO SON
As the Holy Spirit scooped away the dross that came up in His Fire, I recognized that deep inside, I was an orphan child, unsure of who I was and where I belonged. For everything that defined me on the outside of this desert was now gone, and here in the depths of His fire, I looked up in His Eyes, and what I saw, I’ve never seen before.
In His Eyes were pools of love that flowed like a stream into my soul. It washed over me, waves of mercy, waves of grace, a love that spoke, ‘You are My Beloved, and I am yours. I’m washing every dirt and shame off you, you don’t need any garments to cover-up who you are. The orphan child that lived in your soul, I am setting free, you can let her go. To Me, you are the most wonderful child, the one in whom I joyfully delight. No more need to compare or compete, to run ahead or strive beyond, or perform to win My approval… for in Me there is rest, there is peace and contentment. I am all you need, and you are enough for Me. Let go of fear and control, let go of your past and every wound of your soul, and trust in Me alone.’
This was the moment I felt at ‘home’. My place of belonging and identity was found in Him. The race was over, I have arrived at the place where I could now hide in His love and abide in His Presence. Every lie that yoked me to an orphan spirit before, became exposed in His Light and the revelation of His Love. He became my habitation, the place of my rest. No more a slave or orphan bowed to the law, but a son and heir bound by love to my Lord.
My very DNA got rewired and realigned by the revelation of Truth of who He is and who I am to Him. My value and identity are all wrapped up in Him who made me, my loving Father. No more does it matter what anyone else thinks, He is the Only One my heart desires.
He took me into a dance of freedom, where He whispered His Words of Love into my ears. ‘I’m giving you a new name, for the one you carried is washed away. The old is gone, the new has come. There is so much I want to reveal to you, My Beloved One.’
For us to enter deeper still, we need to be secure in Him. For how can He share His Glory with us, when we’re still trying to find ourselves? We will take that which is His and make it our own, our gifts and our call will become our fall. How many before us, haven’t fallen from grace, hastening through the preparation phase. Let God do His Work, let it be complete… let humility and dependability bind us to Him.
Let’s learn the habit of surrender and dying to ourselves. It’s in this place at the cross where our future is held. None of me and all of Him, nothing to lose and all to gain, for it’s about Him and for Him. All glory be to Him alone who loves me, eternally loves me.
Galatians 4:3-7
3In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principlesb of the world. 4But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, 5to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. 6And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” 7So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.
Galatians 5:1
1For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
Lyrics
I saw your first steps
I heard your first words
I saw you, when no one else took notice
You – You
Hold my centre-stage
The stars in the heavens
None shine as you
Every day I see you rising
I’m so proud of you
No other voices need to fill your ears
My only applause is all you need to hear
Every day I see you rising
I’m so proud of you
Can you see me?
I am smiling, as I look at you
You are my world
You are my joy
You are as countless diamonds
You are my love
You are my pride
Your dancing lights ignite My sky
