Reflecting on 2019 Elections

The build-up towards the 2019 elections have been quite intense, and I think in many ways, many of us have been feeling a great anti-climax since the release of the results.

I, like many others, have been grateful for the 37 % increase of the ACDP votes, but mostly I have been greatly disappointed as we needed a much greater Godly Presence and Voice in parliament than that.

I believe there are two contributing factors that caused the growth at these elections to be incremental rather than explosive. One factor is building with old wineskins when new ones are required. When we are called to become a vehicle of change of the ‘New’ that the Lord is doing, it is imperative that we think, operate, and build with new mindsets, and with the right people – often new people that the Lord adds to us in that time. Being surrounded by Godly, Wise, and New-Mindset Counsel, and allowing them to speak into our situations, are also critical to staying on the right path. We cannot build in the New Season, using the ways of old. We need to build God’s Kingdom with His Mindset, which is very different from building ‘church’. Read more here.

Throughout history, whenever a New Move of the Holy Spirit came upon the earth, those who kept doing things the same way as before, were unable to inherit that which the Lord had prepared for His People at that New Time. For the Spirit of the Lord is moving all the time, and we need to hear and understand what He is saying and showing, so we can walk in step with His Spirit, able to inherit that which He has prepared for us.

The other factor during theses elections is the abdication of our Christian responsibility when voting. Unfortunately, just as the ten spies lacked the faith to take the land, so the majority of our fellow-Christians didn’t have the faith to make their mark alongside a small Christian party whom God has placed in government for us! They speak and fight on our behalf in the midst of Anti-Christ agendas and policies, designed to rob us of our Religious Freedoms and Rights as Christian Believers.

The Lord’s Purposes and Plans for this nation will prevail. Sometimes the route is altered by our choices, however, God’s Plan is still the same.

Where to from here?

It is important that we understand our role as Christians, whether in parliament or on the ground-roots level. We are called to pray according to the Will of the Lord, having ears that hear what the Spirit of the Lord is saying, and the revelation that’s needed in order to understand His Workings. He is going to shake our government until they come in alignment with Him. We need to pray for His Outpouring, as He is going to birth our New Nation by His Spirit. We will see Him transform the lives of our neighbours and the lives of our leaders. The ACDP’s role is pivotal in this next era, as they will be used by the Lord as a mediator and a connector, they will be the only party who will have the ears of all the parties. They will be used to diffuse explosive situations, even diffusing potential civil-war situations. It is our responsibility to keep them in our prayers and to pray for Wisdom, Discernment, and Understanding, as they build in this new era, and it’s their responsibility to walk in humility and purity before the Lord, hearing from Him, and listening to the counsel of those around them.

These reflections on the 2019 elections are not to judge or criticise, but rather to teach us some valuable principles that we can practice in our daily lives as we build the Kingdom of God. Build the ‘New’ with New Mindsets given by the Holy Spirit, and with the people God adds to you in this season, and build responsibly as Children of the Most-High God, opening up the way for His Voice, His Will, and His Order to be established upon our land and lives.

Proverbs 15:22

22Without counsel plans fail,
but with many advisers they succeed.

Proverbs 11:14

14Where there is no guidance, a people falls,
but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.

Matthew 9:16,17

16No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch tears away from the garment, and a worse tear is made.

17Neither is new wine put into old wineskins. If it is, the skins burst and the wine is spilled and the skins are destroyed. But new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved.”

Jeremiah 33:2,3

2“Thus says the LORD who made the earth,a the LORD who formed it to establish it—the LORD is his name: 3Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
