In whose strength do we trust? When nothing goes our way and we’re desperate for change, do we put all our trust in God’s Strength and Ability to save us, or are we running around, trying to make things happen in our own strength or seeking out man to save us?
I am so aware of my own weaknesses, and how the devil tries to take full advantage of them. Oh, how I need my Saviour, how I need His Presence! Just as Babylon tricked Judah in the times of Hezekiah, so the devil is driven by strategies to trip us up at every turn. Through their flattery and obesience, Hezekiah fell headlong as his pride blinded his eyes.
We, as the Bride, must walk with our eyes open wide, realising that there is a battle raging around us. We are the devil’s target, and he will do anything and go to any lengths to trick and trip us up, so that our destinies and purpose in Christ is aborted.
There is only one safe place where he cannot reach us. Where he cannot touch us. Where he cannot accomplish any of his strategies set out for us. It is the place of intimacy with our God. Remaining in His Presence, drinking from His Stream, eating from His Word, praising and thanking Him for Who He is… that is the only place of refuge, strength, and victory.
Beware of the flesh and all its lusts… walk in the Spirit, in the sphere where God abides. For there the enemy cannot reach, he is below our feet. For God raises us up into Heavenly places with Him, He causes us to rise above the circumstances and restrictions of the earth. He releases His Glory and Power over us, He fills us with a Joy that is supernatural and pure.
Come, all ye faithful ones. Come to the Throne Seat of His Mercy and Grace. Come and receive your daily fill, let His Glory fill your temple. Run your race by His Strength, run till the very end. Keep your eyes on the finishing line, hear His Cheers as He shouts, ‘Come my Darling Ones, you can do it! You can do it! For your reward is in My Hands, your mansion being prepared… your lives are marked for eternity, it will never end. Rejoice! Rejoice! I am your Strength and your Joy, throw yourself into My Arms, in the safety of My care.
Psalm 20
Trust in the Name of the LORD Our God
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
1May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble!
May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!
2May he send you help from the sanctuary
and give you support from Zion!
3May he remember all your offerings
and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! Selah4May he grant you your heart’s desire
and fulfill all your plans!
5May we shout for joy over your salvation,
and in the name of our God set up our banners!
May the LORD fulfill all your petitions!6Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed;
he will answer him from his holy heaven
with the saving might of his right hand.
7Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
8They collapse and fall,
but we rise and stand upright.9O LORD, save the king!
May he answer us when we call.Isaiah 39:1-7
Envoys from Babylon
1At that time Merodach-baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent envoys with letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he heard that he had been sick and had recovered. 2And Hezekiah welcomed them gladly. And he showed them his treasure house, the silver, the gold, the spices, the precious oil, his whole armory, all that was found in his storehouses. There was nothing in his house or in all his realm that Hezekiah did not show them. 3Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah, and said to him, “What did these men say? And from where did they come to you?” Hezekiah said, “They have come to me from a far country, from Babylon.” 4He said, “What have they seen in your house?” Hezekiah answered, “They have seen all that is in my house. There is nothing in my storehouses that I did not show them.”
5Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of the LORD of hosts: 6Behold, the days are coming, when all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have stored up till this day, shall be carried to Babylon. Nothing shall be left, says the LORD. 7And some of your own sons, who will come from you, whom you will father, shall be taken away, and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”
