The Lump of Clay in the Potter’s Hands

We are the lump of clay on our Heavenly Potter’s wheel… being refined, moulded, shaped and beatified by Him. It is a continual process.

We are the lump of clay on our Heavenly Potter’s wheel… being refined, moulded, shaped and beatified by Him. It is a continual process.

His Hands are always moving over us, smoothening the rough places, cutting away the waste places. Sometimes we only notice the areas that need cutting back and reshaping, when things don’t go our way. It’s easy to feel mature, strong and spiritual when things go the way we want, but the real test is when things go ‘wrong’. That’s when we notice our selfishness, control, wrong motivations, impatience, worldliness, and fleshly character…

It’s in these times that we need to submit to God’s Potter’s Hand, allowing Him to change, cleanse, restore and mature us. For He longs to shape us more and more into His image, filling us with more of Him.

My Afrikaans song, ‘U is die Pottebakker’, is saying ‘yes’ to the working of His Hands in our lives.

Hope you enjoy listening to it, and may you feel His love and presence in a special way.

U is die Pottebakker

U is die Pottebakker,
ek is die klei.
Rowwe stukkies steek uit by my,
neem u hand, en maak met my . . .
Bewerk my.
Bewerk my.
Sodat ek ’n pot kan bly,
na aan u sy . . .
wat U kan vul,
wat U kan vul.
Oorvloedig my.
Oorweldig my.
Oorwin my.
Versadig my.

Isaiah 64:8

8 But now, O LORD, you are our Father;
we are the clay, and you are our potter;
we are all the work of your hand.
