Honouring the Fathers

There is incredible power and a greater forward thrust when the young and old generations take hands and build together.

There is incredible power and a greater forward thrust when the young and old generations take hands and build together.

The modern worldly system disregards and discards anything once it’s reached ‘old age’… from technology to fashion, trends to models… there is a time-limit to your ‘usefulness’, once that expires, you get replaced by something ‘better, younger, trendier and more relevant’. Not surprising that our modern systems are relationally dysfunctional, superficial and competitive.

In the Kingdom, it is the opposite. With age, comes a life filled with many seasons. Those who have endured and matured through their trials and pain, have treasures of priceless worth, wisdom beyond youth and vision that only gets sharpened as the years pass by. God wants their wisdom, skill, knowledge and anointing to be passed on and not lost, woven in and not discarded.

God is calling forth this young generation to honour the mothers and fathers of our society. God has placed dreams and visions in them that have not yet been birthed. On the outside, they might look like they’ve reached the end of their road, but to God, they are standing at the threshold of their biggest inheritance yet.

Sons and daughters, be ready to be connected with fathers and mothers, for in this season of Kingdom-building, God is turning the hearts of the fathers back to the children, and the children’s back to their fathers. For us to build fast, build well and build strong, we have to learn to honour our spiritual parents, and work with them, not run ahead of them, disregarding their spiritual position and anointing.

We need to let them run with us, in the front-lines. Giving them opportunity to lead, to speak and to guide. We need to learn to listen. Learn to wait. Learn to follow. Learn to step aside, and make room for those who have earned the right to walk in the front – men and women of courage, faith and honour.

Let’s walk with humble and ready hearts, to be part of bringing our fathers and mothers into their inheritance by joining hands with them in visions that we share. Let the Holy Spirit lead you on your journey, and be open for God to surprise you with how and with who, He wants you to build the vision in your heart.

We’re not walking alone, we are a family, and we build together.

Malachi 4:6

6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

Deut 5:16

16 Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, that your days may be prolonged and that it may go well with you on the land which the LORD your God gives you.

Job 42:12

12 So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand female donkeys.

Acts 2:17

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
