I have found that when I’ve been intentional about making my life uncluttered and less busy, I could connect with God more intimately, hear Him clearer, and feel His presence more.
Sometimes it’s really hard to juggle all the balls we hold, but it is important to reassess our lives regularly to see if there’s changes we can make to lessen the busyness that this modern life puts on us.
It’s easy for the devil to plot and plan evil in our ‘Millenial’ society, for most people are so caught up in their own bubbles of busyness, they don’t even see what’s really going on around them.
God is calling us to put Him first, not in word, but in intimacy… which needs time. He wants to share His heart with us, His thoughts, His feelings… His glory. He wants to unleash more of Him over us, so that we can be His hands, feet, voice and heart in this world. He wants us to be awake, alert and ready for battle; not asleep, ignorant and distracted.
Even the busyness of ministry-work can be a stumbling block. We have to be careful that we don’t get caught up with doing things for God, at the cost of intimacy. Many ministers have started off close to God, anointed for their call… but have strayed further away through busyness, building their ministries in the flesh.
Intimacy releases power, anointing and glory. Let’s lay down the things that steal our time, and intentionally build intimacy with Jesus.
Psalm 84
1 How lovely is your dwelling place,
Lord Almighty!
2 My soul yearns, even faints,
for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and my flesh cry out
for the living God.
3 Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—
a place near your altar,
Lord Almighty, my King and my God.
4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
they are ever praising you.c
5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
6 As they pass through the Valley of Baka,
they make it a place of springs;
the autumn rains also cover it with pools.d
7 They go from strength to strength,
till each appears before God in Zion.
8 Hear my prayer, Lord God Almighty;
listen to me, God of Jacob.
9 Look on our shield,e O God;
look with favor on your anointed one.
10 Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.
12 Lord Almighty,
blessed is the one who trusts in you.
